It was 4 in the morning & the sky was dark grey, Troy enjoyed the cool whether and the rain. As he closed his eyes to relax, memories of that day flashed in front of him.
Exactly a week ago (on this day) Troy & his best friend Ken went for cliff jumping which was 15 km from the city.
5,4,3,2,1 shouted Ken & the next moment they were in water. The weather was exactly the same ,so Ken suggested going back; But Troy denied as he wanted to prank on Ken (he planned to challenge him to go deeper & secretly escape to the shore). As Ken went deeper he shouted “this much?” & Troy said “more Ken, finish the challenge”. Hesitantly Ken went deeper & deeper ,meanwhile Troy was almost at the shore. Troy!! Ken shouted as he drowned & Troy panicked & couldn’t understand what. to do, people began gathering near the shore . Troy didn’t want the blame on his head so he left his best friend alone, drowning in the middle of the sea & went. He couldn‘t sleep that night as he was tensed about Ken & felt ashamed of himself. The next day he read in the newspaper that “a drowning boy around 18 years of age was saved by locals & admitted to the nearby hospital ”, he was relieved.
He decided to apologise Ken but didn’t have the guts to do so. With his pounding heart he rang the door bell, after a minute Ken opened the door ( there was anger in his eyes). He let Troy in & they both sat quietly for a few minutes. Troy started crying & apologised Ken (holding his hands) while Ken was calm & consoled him. Everything was normal now & they both were having a conversation in the middle of which Ken went to the washroom. After sometime, Troy!! Ken shouted and Troy ran towards the room (ready to save his best friend this time) ; as he entered the room ,he saw a large picture of his best friend with candles & letters in front of it which read
REST IN PEACE.
