24th of December it was,
Christmas was just a day behind.
The sun was accompanied by snow ,
that scenery could blow your mind.
All their jokes & laughter could be heard,
as they cleaned the house with glee.
With all it’s greenery covered with snow,
the lawn awaited the Christmas tree.
Their mind full of false hope
& heart full of wait.
Wearing a fake smile without confidence,
they sat staring at the gate.
No one came & none would, this
each one of them knew.
Still they sat as if a ritual
blindly looking at the view.
The cool wind jerked them back to reality,
it was already midnight.
Wishing each other Merry Christmas,
they exchanged gifts & hugged tight.
Standing near the tree & facing the
house, now their eyes were red.
With mixed feelings they read the board,
“Welcome to the Old Age Home” which said.
Absolutely touching...love ur ending lines always...that's the catch..
God bless you
