Out of all the issues ,today I would like to talk about my issue, your issue and every child’s issue. Apart from that
my choice and your choice, Choice to choose my future self.
Today in our society every Indian parent wants their child to study science after 10th, why ? Simply why?
Just for getting a “high payed” job you will ruin their dreams by forcing them into science? Even I have been under such circumstances as my parents are doctors (further complicating the situation) but what is the logic ?
More than my parents, other people whom I don‘t even know properly had already decided that I would take science! They said science has lot more prospects and when I asked them about the prospects the reply was “doctor, scientists, engineer, bio tech“ this much and after that “ETC” , I want to know what that ETC is.
People have a lot of misconceptions about my stream ‘humanities’ that those who score less take this stream? What is the LOGIC ?
I have met numerous people in my life who don’t even know the difference between a ‘psychologist’ and ‘psychiatrist‘
& these are the same people talking about difference between science and humanities.
Do you really think our civil servants, politicians, archeologists, officers, lawyers, journalists, media people, your favourite actors, singers, writers etc study science? You won’t see any of these without humanities!! It’s a fact.
Our study is also study, our study is also important, our study is also difficult and our study is also legit.
I have a choice, who to be
what to be and how to be.
Each one of us is empowered,
take your stand, you ain’t a coward!
I am a humanities student, I still am surviving and am proud of my choice.
The choice of choosing a carrier always depends on the student, but he or she has to consult parents and wellwishers for their opinion as they have more experience and exposure and have passed through the same in their studenthood. A concensus, not confrontation should be there before taking a onetime decision of life.as the goal is one, that is ,the bright future of the child and the main focus should be the child's interest in the course/carrier.Megha has boldly broughtout the topic and rightly so.Every child should know that parents are happy when the child is happy and viceversa is expected. Good luck.
Thankkk youuuu
I so very much agree to what Milu kaka said.
I am so.proud of you baby sister. Your education stream isn't a parameter of your future payscale .Moreover payscale shouldn't ever be a parameter for choosing an education stream. Its great to see , you choosed something that you wanted, unlike most of us who just followed the crowd.
My one cent here would be always choose your education/workstream coz you beleive in it not coz you want to prove a handful of people wrong.
Thank you
I am so thankful Dhana, you took your concern to the discussion level. I am proud that you conquered it and didn't succumb to the pressure. We parents try to advise with our limited knowledge and narrow spectrum but you have whole horizon to yoursel. All we want is happiness in your life, go live it, chase your dreams 🥰
